This economist and tax consultant began his career in 1976 at the Lehndorff Vermögensverwaltung real estate company in Hamburg. In 1983 he became Deputy Director of Deutsche Bank AG in Frankfurt where he was placed in charge of the sale of all capital investment products for real estate, among other things. Between 1992 and 1998, as Director of the Commerz Grundbesitz Investmentgesellschaft (CGI) in Wiesbaden, he became responsible for acquisitions, sales and real property administration.

Since January 1999 he is the Chairman of the Management Board of Messe Frankfurt GmbH and oversees controlling, development and finance, information processing and corporate communications, among other things. The Messe Frankfurt is globally present with its core competences in consumer goods, technology and textiles, and holds an interest in 11 subsidiary trade fairs, including among them the Messe Frankfurt RUS O.O.O. in Moscow.
