Anheuser-Busch moves into content-creation business

USA’s largest brewer is launching its own in-house film and TV production company that will make humorous shorts and sitcom-type programs to be broadcast over the internet and to cellphones, Advertising Ages reports. The new production group will be headed by A-B’s top in-house creative and former VP-Creative Development Jim Schumacher. A-B is following closely in the footsteps of megamarketers like PepsiCo, which produced the snowboarding documentary "First Descent" through its Mountain Dew Films unit, and Starbucks Corp., which last year partnered with Lions Gate Films to market "Akeelah and the Bee", AdAge writes.
